"NAPAMAX" a local
materials exchange listing, is now being introduced to the Napa Valley.
NAPAMAX is a local version of the statewide materials exchange listing
called "CALMAX".
Both CALMAX and NAPAMAX are designed to help businesses find uses for
various materials they have traditionally discarded. For example: a
cabinetmaker that generated a great deal of sawdust and wood scraps was
matched with a horse-bedding operation that needed this type of
material.
NAPAMAX is a public-private partnership between the Solano-Napa
Builders Exchange and the City of Napa, Public Works Department. NAPAMAX
is an example where the private sector and the public sector can work
together in a positive way for the environment and the economy.
NAPAMAX consists of two main sections, a listing of "Available"
materials and a listing of "Wanted" materials. Within these two sections
the listings will be grouped into a number of material categories, i.e.,
metals, construction, containers, durable goods, organic waste, etc. The
listings and other useful information is shared with CALMAX and a similar
listing in Sonoma County called "SONOMAX" in order to maximize efforts in
the region.
NAPAMAX's intent is to facilitate business reuse and recycling in order
to meet the 50% mandated solid waste reduction in the State of California
by the year 2000. NAPAMAX is an attempt to give another outlet to
businesses who experience that feeling of 'what a shame' when disposing of
items or materials that somebody, somewhere could probably use. The goal
of NAPAMAX is to conserve resources, energy and landfill space by helping
businesses and organizations find alternatives to the disposal of valuable
materials.
Listing excess materials or finding them through local NAPAMAX,
statewide CALMAX
and the National Materials Exchange Network enables your company to save
money.
